FAQs

Do I need an national plan to use my cell phone?

In order for your cell phone to work in Ireland and UK, you will need to set up international roaming. Ask your provider about an international calling plan that you can activate while travelling. Making and receiving phone calls with your U.S. cell phone while in Ireland and UK can be expensive and having the correct plan before you travel reduces the cost.
Ireland and the UK serves you with thousands of wireless internet hotspots. Most of the Wi-Fi hotspots are free. If you choose not to purchase a calling plan from your cell phone provider, you can access Wi-Fi on your phone to use the internet.

Should I bring my credit/ATM card?

Major credit cards are widely accepted, and we recommend you use them to avoid carrying cash. ATMs are widely available and will accept appropriate cards and dispense cash in the local currency. Additional fees may be charged, so please check with your financial institution before you travel. It’s also a good idea to inform your bank that you are travelling overseas to ensure they don’t block you ATM/credit cards while you are travelling.

How much money do I need to carry?

Since most components of your guided vacation are included in one up-front price, you will only need money for those meals that are not included on the daily itinerary (such as lunch/snacks). If you are an avid shopper or enjoy a beer or cocktail in the evening, these costs are incurred at your own expense. Also, it is customary to tip your guide and driver at the end of the tour.

What travel documents do I need to travel?

You will need a valid passport with an expiration at least 6 months after your travel dates. It is also a good idea to make a photocopy of your passport and pack it with your clothing. You do not need a visa to enter Ireland.

Are there any free days to pursue personal activities?

All of our tours offer included sightseeing every day to maximize your touring time. However, if you want to take a day off from the scheduled itinerary to play golf, shop, explore or simply relax, you may choose not to participate on a tour on a day when you are staying in the same hotel for 2-3 nights. You will also be responsible for your own transportation and excursion costs.

What should I pack?

The key to a pleasant trip is to be comfortable and travel light. Our dress code for our tours is casual and be sure to have comfortable walking shoes and a rain jacket. While touring, we suggest dressing in layers to provide the most comfort, as you can shed and add items if the temperatures fluctuate.

How much luggage can I bring?

On coach tours, you are permitted one piece of luggage and one carry-on bag per person. Travelers are responsible for transporting their luggage between the coach and hotel each day. Luggage should not exceed 30 x 20 x 10 inches and weight should be under 50 lbs; carry-on must be soft sided, without wheels, and must be small enough to fit under the coach seat. Airlines have their own regulations, and some carriers charge for checked baggage.

Will we get an itinerary for our trip?

All of our tours come with a detailed itinerary, a sample to begin and then 7-10 days prior to departure all itineraries are finalized and updated and emailed to each participant. You will also receive a booklet itinerary upon arrival. We recommend every traveler download a FREE app, WhatsApp Messenger, to their cell phone. This is a messaging app for iPhone, Android, and Windows to send texts, video, images and audio and you only need Wi-Fi to use it. We post itinerary changes, additions and reminders of each excursion and meeting times throughout the tour on this app. You can text our tour manager any time on this app while on the tour.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, although not compulsory. First Choice Tours strongly recommend you take out adequate travel insurance before traveling. Travel insurance can protect you against cancellations, cutting short your trip, missed transport or delayed departure for reasons beyond your control, medical and other emergencies. Our booking policy terms also cover cancellations made by you or us. Please read them before signing up for our tours.
